The 2025 Brussels Motor Show will be the stage for the electrifying debut of the Toyota Urban Cruiser, now reimagined as an all-electric vehicle.
Toyota offers the Urban Cruiser with both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD):
- FWD & AWD Available
This compact crossover comes with two battery pack options:
- 49-kWh Battery: Standard for FWD models
- 61-kWh Battery: For long-range FWD and all AWD variants
- Single Motor (142 hp) for standard FWD
- Enhanced Front Motor (171 hp) with 61-kWh battery in FWD
- Dual Motor (181 hp, 221 lb-ft Torque) for AWD configurations
The torque peaks at 221 lb-ft in the AWD model, nearly doubling the single motor's 139 lb-ft.
- Length: 168.7 inches
- Width: 70 inches
- Wheelbase: 106.2 inches
This compact design is almost seven inches shorter and an inch narrower than the Toyota Corolla Cross.
Although a U.S. launch seems unlikely, the Urban Cruiser underscores Toyota's commitment to expanding its global BEV lineup. Visitors in Europe can check it out at the Brussels Motor Show from January 10-19, 2025.
Summary: Toyota reinvents the Urban Cruiser as an all-electric compact crossover, offering a variety of drivetrain and battery configurations. While its release in the U.S. seems improbable, it highlights Toyota's dedication to a broader BEV future, making its debut at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show.
