Introducing the New Tiguan at the LA Auto Show

Volkswagen is showcasing its third-generation Tiguan at the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show, reimagined as a two-row crossover for North America. If you're looking for a three-row SUV, consider the Atlas.

Enhanced Performance

The 2025 Tiguan features a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine, known internally as the EA888, now generating 201 hp through an eight-speed automatic transmission. This is an upgrade from the previous model's 184 hp, with standard front-wheel drive and optional 4Motion all-wheel drive.

Fresh Design and Styling

With a fresh look, the Tiguan boasts a distinctive front with slim headlamps, an optional LED light bar, and an illuminated VW logo. It stands out with squared wheel arches and comes standard with 17-inch wheels, with 19-inch and 20-inch options available. As VW's Kai Grinitz says, "It looks much tougher, bolder, and more dynamic."

Inside the New Tiguan

The interior has undergone significant changes, offering more screen space with fewer seats. It features a standard 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro display alongside a 12.9-inch media screen. You can opt for a 15-inch screen, a head-up display, ambient lighting with adjustable colors, and a premium Harman Kardon audio system. Convenient audio controls are seamlessly integrated into the steering wheel.

Advanced Safety Features

The Tiguan comes equipped with the IQ.Drive system, delivering level 2 automated driver assistance, forward collision warnings, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring. Additional features like Park Assist Plus add extra convenience.

Global Influence and Pricing

Previously known in China as the Tayron L, this new Tiguan model retains its predecessor’s essence. Pricing is still undisclosed but is estimated to be close to the current model’s $30,305. Improved fuel economy comes from a 170-pound weight reduction. You can expect it in U.S. showrooms by early summer.

Summary

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan embraces a two-row configuration with enhanced power, bold styling, and advanced technology. By blending familiar elements with new improvements, it's set to continue its success as VW's top U.S. seller.
