Early next year, U-Haul will unveil the "Toy Hauler," a larger trailer boasting a 6,800-pound capacity—a 1,510-pound increase over their standard automotive trailer. This trailer is designed for everything from race cars to side-by-sides, catering to the needs of today's larger vehicles.
The evolving automotive market required a trailer with increased capacity. Current U-Haul trailers often struggle with the weight and size of full-size SUVs, trucks, and vehicles like side-by-sides and tractors. To bridge this gap, U-Haul developed the Toy Hauler as a specialized option.
- Dimensions & Capacity: It measures just over 23 feet long and 8.5 feet wide, with a usable deck of 16 feet.
- Load: Its 6,800-pound capacity makes it suitable for most wheeled toys.
- Ramps: Three eight-foot ramps facilitate easy loading, especially for three-wheeled motorcycles.
Jasmine Spencer, U-Haul's towing program manager, explains that the Toy Hauler complements the current lineup rather than replacing existing trailers. U-Haul has no plans to sell off their current fleet, ensuring continued availability.
The trailer's size and numerous tie-down slots make it ideal for transporting a vehicle and additional gear. It meets the needs of many customers, simplifying motorsport involvement.
Production is set to begin in early 2025 in Tempe, Arizona, with nationwide availability and no regional restrictions. Although pricing hasn't been announced, it's expected to be slightly higher than the current base rate of $54.95 per day.
Summary: U-Haul's new Toy Hauler provides a solution for modern towing needs, addressing changes in the automotive landscape. With greater capacity and unique features, it supports a wide range of vehicles, enhancing customer experience and making motorsport more accessible.
