The Lamborghini Asterion was a glimpse into the potential future of this iconic brand. Revealed in October 2014, this mid-engine, near-production concept was poised to be Lamborghini's pioneering hybrid, aligning with the trend set by groundbreaking cars like the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari.
Only one Asterion was ever built, yet it was fully operational. It featured a powerful 600bhp Huracán V10 that drove the rear wheels, along with a 300bhp motor for the front. This configuration allowed the car to travel 31 miles at speeds up to 78 mph in electric-only mode. However, the hybrid technology added 280 kg, and Lamborghini's then-CEO Stephan Winkelmann noted customer hesitance towards hybrids, leading the brand towards launching the Urus instead.
