The classic Audi A4 is making its exit as the 2025 Audi A5 steps in with a starting price of $48,995. This is $3,600 more than the outgoing A4's $45,395. However, this new model is more affordably priced than the discontinued A5 Sportback, which had a higher starting price of $49,695. In the U.S., the "Sportback" name has been dropped, leaving the A5 as the sole offering.
Though the A4 and A5 have had different names, they've long been similar in size, with the A5 traditionally offering sportier features at a premium. With the A5 now the only choice, sporty performance is a given.
The 2025 A5 offers a significant power upgrade:
- Engine & Performance:
- 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine
- 268 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque
- Features a 48-volt hybrid system
The new S5 trim takes things further with:
- 362 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, surpassing the previous S4 and S5 Sportback's 349 hp and 369 lb-ft. Pricing details for the S5 will be available as production approaches this summer.
As Audi transitions from the A4 to the A5, car enthusiasts are presented with a blend of enhanced performance and luxury at a slightly higher price. The new A5 stands as a beacon of upgraded power and elegance, setting a new standard in Audi's lineup.
