The 2024 Polestar Design Contest, in collaboration with Hot Wheels, has crowned a winner: the ‘Polestar TRX.’ Designed by Shashank Shekhar from India, this creation combines the essence of a supercar with the ruggedness of a pickup truck. It will be transformed into a 1:64 scale die-cast Hot Wheels car, set to hit the shelves in summer 2025.
A panel of four judges from Polestar and Mattel praised the TRX for its “exaggerated proportions and sleek surfaces,” offering a fresh and exciting take on Polestar’s typically subtle design language.
“This is my first design to be produced, and seeing it turned into a Hot Wheels car is beyond my dreams,” Shekhar said. “The experience has instilled great confidence in me as a designer.”
This was the fourth Polestar Design Contest, open to both professionals and students. Many student participants have gone on to work with Polestar.
- Runner-Up: Powei Chen with the cyberpunk-inspired ‘Cyber Shaker.’
- Honorable Mention: Roman Moor’s Le Mans-inspired ‘Polestar Track Toy.’
The Polestar TRX, an innovative blend of supercar and pickup, triumphed in the 2024 Polestar Design Contest. The design will become a Hot Wheels model by 2025, marking a significant milestone in the career of its creator, Shashank Shekhar.
