Liam Lawson, a rising star in Formula 1, is officially replacing Sergio Perez as Max Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull Racing for the 2025 season. Perez’s departure has been confirmed, paving the way for Lawson to take one of the sport's most coveted seats.
At just 22, Lawson made his F1 debut in the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix with AlphaTauri, temporarily stepping in for Daniel Ricciardo. By 2024, he secured a permanent seat, showcasing his promising talent by scoring points in three out of six Grands Prix appearances.
Grateful and ambitious, Lawson shared, “Being named an Oracle Red Bull Racing Driver is a lifelong dream. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m ready to learn from Max and this talented team.”
Christian Horner, the team boss, praised Lawson’s tenacity: “Liam has shown exceptional talent and passion. His step up continues our tradition of nurturing homegrown talent, reminiscent of stars like Sebastian Vettel and Max.”
Yuki Tsunoda, Lawson’s former teammate, despite four years at the junior team and outscoring Lawson in their brief stint together, remains in the shadows, highlighting the fierce competition within Red Bull’s ranks.
Liam Lawson joins Red Bull Racing alongside Max Verstappen, promising a fresh chapter in F1. With his swift rise and relentless drive, Lawson faces high expectations but is ready to seize this thrilling opportunity, while Yuki Tsunoda continues his tireless quest for recognition.
