Nicknamed 'La Liebre' (The Hare), this fierce machine is the brainchild of Giuseppe Casagrande and Maurizio Moschini. They co-founded 'Cars and Coffee Chile' in 2013, a nonprofit organization aimed at fostering Chile's car community.
To craft La Liebre, the Falcon chassis underwent a dramatic transformation at Baufer Garage. Key changes included:
- Heavily Modified Chassis: Upgraded with a tubular frame and roll cage.
- Powerful Heart: A custom Chevy 350 small block V8 engine delivering 600bhp, combined with a Saenz 910 five-speed straight-cut gearbox.
- Lightweight Body: Fiberglass construction resulting in a total weight of just 900kg.
“This year’s Hot Wheels Legends Tour showcased incredible builds, but La Liebre’s mission by Cars & Coffee Chile truly captured the spirit of the tour,” said Ted Wu, Senior VP and Global Head of Design at Mattel.
La Liebre is not just an impressive build; it symbolizes a movement, spurring growth in Chile's car community and inspiring enthusiasts globally. This effort highlights why La Liebre deserves its win and entry into the Hot Wheels Garage of Legends.
Since its inception in 2018, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour has crowned local car talent globally. Each annual finale names a winner whose car is immortalized as a Hot Wheels die-cast—a prized accolade indeed.
In summary, La Liebre's blend of ingenious engineering and community inspiration has earned it a cherished spot among Hot Wheels legends. From a modest Falcon to a celebrated masterpiece, it's a journey of creativity and passion.
