Just bought a new Bronco? Ford invites you to unleash its full potential. Every sixth-generation Bronco owner in the U.S. receives an invitation to the Bronco Off-Roadeo experience—a clever play on words, but still truly enticing.
Off-Roadeo locations are spread across Moab, Nevada, New Hampshire, Tennessee, and Texas. Ford welcomed us to the Texas location to explore a Bronco's capabilities and assess if the experience is worth the investment.
Situated just an hour from Austin in Horseshoe Bay, the Grey Wolf Ranch offers over 360 acres of off-road paradise. Bronco and Bronco Sport buyers enjoy a complimentary full-day experience, while Raptor owners should head to Nevada. Everyone is welcome to a paid half-day adventure.
The day begins with a comprehensive guide-led briefing, covering essentials like hand signals, locking differentials, and vehicle angles. Attendees have varied experience levels, with some eagerly waiting for their Broncos.
Participants use Off-Roadeo’s fleet without worrying about scratches. The full-sized Broncos come equipped with a 2.7-liter V6 and automatic transmission. Manuals led to excessive clutch wear in the past, so they are no longer used.
Starting with modest courses, participants tackle creeks and experiment with the Bronco’s G.O.A.T. modes and features like differential locks and Trail Control—an off-road cruise control—ideal for precise navigation of the terrain.
Explore challenges like Grandma’s Forest and Goodyear Hill, where our Wildtrak stood out without significant issues. Trail Control was invaluable on steep gradients like the 27-degree Bronco Trust Fall.
Concluding with a 1.5-mile dirt track and 13 hairpin turns, the sporty Baja mode offered an exhilarating finish. While the Wildtrak's V6 lacks athletic finesse, a secretive run in the Bronco Raptor highlighted its off-road prowess.
The Off-Roadeo is a rewarding journey for Bronco owners. Trail guides share invaluable expertise and support, particularly beneficial for off-roading novices. Although seasoned enthusiasts might not find extreme challenges, the diverse trails and techniques brilliantly showcase the Bronco’s capabilities. If you haven’t explored the G.O.A.T. modes yet, prepare for a revelation.
The Ford Bronco Off-Roadeo offers Bronco owners a fascinating insight into their vehicle’s off-roading abilities. With expert guidance and a well-crafted experience, it's an adventure that brings the Bronco’s robust capabilities to life, appealing to both beginners and seasoned drivers.
