Abarth is charging into the electric future while keeping its beloved tradition of special editions alive. According to Guillaume Clerc, Abarth's product chief, the passion for exclusivity will endure with limited-run versions of the new 500e and 600e.
> "It's part of the soul of Abarth," Clerc notes, highlighting how a significant portion of the brand's fans are eager for these unique series.
Though specific details about upcoming editions are still under wraps, the current focus is on the successful launch of the 600e. The Scorpionissima model, a special edition of its own as a launch version, sets the stage.
Abarth boasts a rich history of special releases, including countless editions of the 595 and 695. Earlier this year, a 695 edition commemorated Abarth's 75th anniversary alongside sales of the electric 500e.
The 600e Scorpionissima, produced in a limited run of just 1,949 units, goes beyond the standard with additional power, an artificial sound generator, enhanced brakes, and a Torsen limited-slip differential. These features may soon be seen in future special editions.
Abarth is considering incorporating advanced tech, such as a fake paddle-shift system similar to the one in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. Marketing chief Francesco Morosini explains that while it's "nice," the priority remains on performance over novelty for now.
> "We chose to focus on components like brakes and the differential, enhancing Nürburgring performance," Morosini says, though he acknowledges the allure of extra gadgets.
Abarth's passion for special editions continues to thrive in its electric future. As the brand launches new electric models, it remains committed to creating unique vehicular experiences. While tech innovations are currently on the back burner for the sake of performance enhancements, Abarth is sure to keep thrilling its fans with extraordinary editions.
