Unboxing the Challenge

In front of me lies the daunting task of assembling a 1:8 scale model of the AMG One. With 3,295 pieces, it promised a soothing ASMR experience—or so I thought. Designed by Bruno Jenson and created by CaDA, this impressive model, priced at £230.09, patiently waits in its neatly packaged box, ready to test my patience and skills.

The Build Begins

Guided only by detailed diagrams, I soon come to grips with my overconfidence. My initial attempt to match pieces without pre-sorting proved inefficient. After some trial and error, I organized my workspace and plunged into the build. Naming the parts became my coping mechanism as I persevered through pressing components with sore fingers.

Finding My Stride

Progress is noticeable as sections like the chassis and engine block start taking shape. Technical components, such as cylinder heads and the gearbox, bring moments of triumph, although the latter required numerous retries. Spring dampers mark the first of many small victories. However, I encounter setbacks with confusing instructions and missing parts that delay progress.

Perseverance Through Seasons

As the seasons change from winter to spring and then summer, my build drags on. Faced with complex choices like drivetrain configurations and challenging fits, I take breaks to avoid burnout. The bodywork begins to take shape, and the project finally resembles a car. Nevertheless, challenges (and spare parts) accumulate, testing my resolve.

The Final Push

With autumn's arrival, there's a glimmer of hope. Despite setbacks like a crucial piece breaking and inflexible assembly steps, I finally complete the model just in time for an oddly timed Christmas. The finished AMG One is breathtaking, though better suited for display than as a toy due to functional issues.

Conclusion

Ultimately, this monumental task left me with a model worthy of display and imparted lessons on perseverance, humility, and approaching challenges realistically. Despite its hiccups, this project is a testament to both the satisfaction and craziness of tackling a build of this scale.

Summary: Assembling a 3,295-piece AMG One model from CaDA proved to be a daunting year-long challenge. Despite setbacks including confusing instructions, intricate mechanical parts, and repeated breakdowns, the finished model is a testament to perseverance. While not exactly a toy, it stands as a display of commitment and patience.

This project seems like a classic case of optimism turning into frustration. Assembling such a complex model is no small feat, and I can understand how it could drive someone crazy.

Did you ever consider just switching to a simpler model? Seems like this one was a real headache!
